This lion mural and other images were painted for Solano County Juvenile Detention Center in Fairfield, CA.
Our goal was to take white sterile-looking walls and give the youth something fun and powerful to look at each day. The mural signifies that we can be a plant like a dandelion, but when you blow one in the wind and make a change you can be a beautiful flower or a powerful lion. The colors also gave the place a nice cheerful look.
With support from the California Arts Council, Colors for Kids provided a mural-making opportunity designed around words we use to govern ourselves, self-affirm, and then actualize change in our lives.
Colors for Kids can create a community experience.
If your community would like a wall painted by friends and families in your area,
